Editing Onboarding

Stage One
When you commit to working with me on a developmental editing or manuscript evaluation project, I do a lot of work in the consultation phase. We discuss your project’s start and end dates, the scope of work you’re looking for and that I can provide, the project fee as listed on the Pricing page, and the expected final deliverables you’ll receive upon the project’s end.
- Both parties sign the project proposal and contract agreements before the project’s scheduled start date.
- The client must settle the invoice’s first installment, the booking fee, within 24 hours of signing the contract agreement.
- The second installment must be settled at least 12 hours prior to the project’s scheduled start date.
- Finally, the client must then deliver their properly formatted manuscript at least 8 hours prior to the project’s scheduled start date.
Each editing client has their own secure Client Portal, activated during the consultation phase. You can access any email communication and video appointments as well as the proposal agreement, contract agreement, and invoice.

I have a unique process for editing onboarding, automated through my project management system.
I adjust the workflow tasks depending on the expected time frame and the difficulty of the text.
This ensures I prioritize as needed. It also allows me to stay in communication regarding any questions or needed clarifications.
Final deliverables will be available both on your Client Portal (as Adobe Acrobat PDF files) and via email (as Microsoft Word documents). They will be sent no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern on the scheduled project end date.
NOTE:
My direct-labor hours (where I work on your project and only your project) are set for the afternoons and early evenings. I pace myself to not only ensure I can give your project the focus it deserves, but so that I also have time for any work stoppages that may occur due to waiting for clarification, tighter-deadline projects, and those days where self-care takes top priority.
Note:
I do not provide editorial services for the following genres or with the following content. If your manuscript falls in one of these categories, or contains any of the listed content, I truly thank you for considering Sage Editing, but I will not be able to assist you in your editorial needs.
