Single-Session Coaching

Got a burning question about genre expectations and how you might subvert them?

Need some quick guidance about a storytelling craft principle that’s got your mind twisted up like a Gordian knot?

Want to brainstorm some different paths your characters could take that will unblock your story’s journey?

In case you were wondering (you probably weren’t, but whatever ?), I didn’t fall into story coaching by accident. It’s been a natural progression and an intentional goal since I originally opened Sage Editing a little over four years ago. I even wrote a blog about it: What Led Me to Queer Romance Story Coaching.

What’s in it for you?

For some, writing long-form fiction comes a little easier. Tracking deadlines and daily word-count progress might be a little more reasonably manageable. In these instances, a four-, eight-, or twelve-session story coaching package is a bit much.

My primary mission at Sage Editing is making sure your story is at its strongest from start to finish. For you, that may not necessarily mean you need me at the start or the finish.

To meet you wherever you may be in your publishing journey, I offer Single-Session Coaching.

Here are the two primary benefits this service provides for you.

You get my undivided attention…

For up to sixty minutes, I’m all yours to ask anything about your story, your publishing journey, or your writing craft.

For upward of an hour, you get a one-on-one brainstorming session* with a passionate and knowledgeable fiction story coach and developmental editor.

…plus personalized feedback!

Send me up to 2,500 words (or the scene of your current work-in-progress that you’re most concerned about). I’ll review it, then I’ll come into the session with concrete ideas on how you might course-correct. Additionally, I’ll bring a few hard questions that dig deep into how you might challenge yourself to improve your own writing skills.

* One session allowed per person per month. Appointments are restricted to Wednesdays–Saturdays.

Note:

I do not provide editorial services for the following genres or with the following content. If your manuscript falls in one of these categories, or contains any of the listed content, I truly thank you for considering Sage Editing, but I will not be able to assist you in your editorial needs.
