Pricing

When you love writing the way I do, both the craft itself and its ability to shape untold worlds or impart education, you understand its value as a service. I bring nearly 30 years of experience in fiction writing (I cut my teeth in the world of short stories, flash-fiction, and fanfiction), as well as 12 years of experience in military and government documentation editing.

There are payment plans available for each of the services I offer, depending on the project type and length.

  • Story Coaching: Determined per package.
  • Fiction Developmental Edit: 60% of the invoice due upon contract signing, 30% due at the halfway mark, and 10% due within 48 hours of receipt of the final files.
  • Manuscript Evaluation: 50% of the invoice due upon contract signing, 50% due within 48 hours of receipt of the final files.

NOTES:

For any editing projects requiring a faster turnaround time than the timeframes listed, a surcharge of $0.02 per word will be added to the project fee.

For word counts over the listed maximum of all services, a fee of $0.01 per word for each 2,000 additional words is added to the total invoice cost.

Story Coaching

Fiction Developmental Edit: US $0.07 per word

  • Inline comments using Microsoft Word’s Track Changes
  • Up to 80,000 words
  • Three passes
  • 30- to 50-page Editorial Letter
  • Option for 60-minute Post-Project Debrief video call
  • Timeframe: 5–8 weeks

Manuscript Evaluation: US $450–$750 flat fee

  • Up to 70,000 words
  • One pass
  • 5- to 10-page Manuscript Evaluation Letter
  • Option for 30-minute Post-Project Debrief video call
  • Timeframe: 1–3 weeks

I do not provide editorial services for the following genres or with the following content. If your manuscript falls in one of these categories, or contains any of the listed content, I truly thank you for considering Sage Editing, but I will not be able to assist you in your editorial needs. I know editors who do and will be more than happy to provide a referral.
