Onboarding

When you entrust me with your baby, the story you’ve spent months (or even years) putting onto paper, I want you to be confident that your manuscript is in good hands.

As a neurospicy professional editor, I value three things:

  • Clarity
  • Conciseness
  • Punctuality

To aid in that effort, here’s my general consultation process for authors. It all starts when you fill out one of the following interest forms:

Coaching Consultation

Once your consultation appointment is booked, we discuss your background as an author, my background as an editor–author, and your manuscript concerns or reasons for reaching out.

If necessary, I go into detail about the editorial process.

I try to get as much information from you as I can in the allotted time frame, so I have a clear understanding of how to best help you as your story coach or developmental editor.

Story Coaching Client Onboarding involves setting goals and establishing a curriculum that will both challenge and inspire you.

Here’s where you can find more information about Accountability Coaching.

Initial Consultation: Developmental Edit

If you are seeking a fiction developmental edit, I first perform a full readthrough of your manuscript. As a result, I can fully ascertain the starting point of your manuscript’s needs.

More so, I can determine if I have the relevant skills needed and the appropriate knowledge of your specific genre and story goals to assist you where you need it most.

  • Word Count: Up to 90,000 words (US $10 per additional 2,000 words)
  • Cost: US $75
  • Turnaround: 3–5 business days

Initial Consultation: Line/Copyedit

If you are seeking a line/copyedit, I offer a sample edit of one chapter from the middle of the manuscript, up to 1,500 words.

This sample edit determines whether I have the relevant skills needed, the appropriate knowledge of your specific genre and story goals to assist you where you need it most, and the editing style that you expect to receive.

  • Cost: US $55
  • Turnaround: 3–5 business days

Follow-Up Consultation: Developmental Edit or Line/Copyedit

During your follow-up consultation for either the developmental edit or the line/copyedit service, we’ll discuss the following:

  • My professional opinion of the state of your manuscript or sample
  • My editing style and communication preferences
  • Your writing style and communication preferences
  • How I can best serve you as your editor
  • Project Proposal
  • Contract Services Agreement

If we agree to work together, and all agreements are signed and initial payments settled, I’ll get to work reflecting on your story one word at a time!
