Line/Copyediting
Much like my developmental edit onboarding process, my line/copyediting onboarding process happens in two stages.

Stage One: Consultation
When you commit to working with me on a line/copyediting project, I do most of the work in the consultation phase. Through the Line/Copyedit Interest Form, we determine your project’s start and end dates, the scope of work you’re looking for and that I can provide, the project fee as listed on the Pricing page, and the expected final deliverables you’ll receive upon the project’s end.
- I conduct a sample edit of up to 1,500 words from the middle of your manuscript.
- We meet for a follow-up session to go over my revisions and recommendations, and so I can answer any questions you may have about those suggestions.
- Both parties sign the project proposal and contract agreements before the project’s scheduled start date.
- The client must settle the invoice’s first installment within 24 hours of signing the contract agreement.
- The second installment must be settled at least 24 hours prior to the project’s scheduled start date.
- Finally, the client must then deliver their properly formatted manuscript at least 12 hours prior to the project’s scheduled start date.
Each editing client has their own secure Client Portal, activated during the consultation phase. You can access any email communication and video appointments as well as the proposal agreement, contract agreement, and invoice.
Stage Two: Onboarding

I have a unique process for onboarding editing clients, automated through my project management system.
I adjust the workflow tasks depending on the expected project time frame and the difficulty of the text.
This ensures I prioritize as needed. It also allows me to stay in communication regarding any questions or needed clarifications.
Final deliverables will be available both via email as Microsoft Word documents as well as on your Client Portal as Adobe Acrobat PDF files. They will be sent no later than 6:00 p.m. Eastern on the scheduled project end date.
NOTE:
My direct-labor hours (where I work on your project and only your project) are set for the afternoons and early evenings. I pace myself to not only ensure I can give your project the focus it deserves, but so that I also have time for any work stoppages that may occur due to waiting for clarification, tighter-deadline projects, and those days where self-care takes top priority.
Note:
I do not provide editorial services for the following genres or work on the following content. If your manuscript falls in one of these categories, or contains any of the listed content, I truly thank you for considering Sage Editing, but I will not be able to assist you in your editorial needs.
